Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about our real estate courses
How many CE hours does South Carolina require to renew a real estate license?
South Carolina requires 10 hours of SCREC-approved Continuing Education every 2 years to renew a salesperson license. The 10 hours must include at least 4 hours of mandatory core courses (like Legal Hot Tips 2024–2026) and 6 hours of elective topics. Fortune Academy's SCREC-approved (Provider #004) CE package covers the full 10-hour requirement.
When does my SC real estate license need to be renewed?
SC real estate licenses renew every 2 years on June 30 of even-numbered years (e.g., June 30, 2024, June 30, 2026). You must complete all 10 required CE hours before your renewal date. SCREC sends reminder notices 90 days before renewal, but it's your responsibility to renew on time — late renewal incurs penalties.
What are the mandatory core CE courses in SC?
SCREC requires at least 4 hours of mandatory core courses in each 2-year cycle. For the 2024–2026 cycle, core courses include "Legal Hot Tips 2024–2026" and (for Broker-in-Charge licensees) "Broker-in-Charge Duties and Responsibilities." Fortune Academy offers both core courses as part of our SC CE package.
Can I take SC continuing education online?
Yes. Fortune Academy offers all 10 hours of SC SCREC-approved CE online in a self-paced format — study on any device, complete at your own speed, and download your certificate immediately when you finish. We also offer live virtual classroom CE for agents who prefer instructor-led sessions.
What happens if I don't complete my SC CE on time?
If you don't complete your 10 CE hours before your SCREC renewal date, your SC real estate license will lapse. SCREC charges late renewal fees, and if you go too long without renewing, you may have to complete additional education to reactivate your license. Fortune Academy offers fast-track CE packages that can be completed in a single weekend if you're close to your deadline.
How much does SC continuing education cost?
Fortune Academy's SC real estate CE packages are priced competitively — the complete 10-hour CE package is the most cost-effective option. We also offer individual 3-hour and 4-hour courses if you only need to complete a few hours. Pricing is shown on this page — see the package options to the right.
Does SC reciprocate CE with other states?
SCREC only accepts CE completed from providers approved by the South Carolina Real Estate Commission. CE completed in other states generally does NOT satisfy SC renewal requirements — you must complete SCREC-approved CE to renew your SC license. Fortune Academy is SCREC Provider #004 and our courses are fully SC-approved.
Do Broker-in-Charge licensees have additional CE requirements?
Yes. SC Broker-in-Charge (BIC) licensees must complete an additional 4-hour "Broker-in-Charge Duties and Responsibilities" core course in each biennial renewal cycle — on top of the standard 10-hour CE. Fortune Academy offers a dedicated SC BIC CE package that covers this requirement.
How do I prove I completed my SC CE?
After completing each Fortune Academy CE course, you receive an instant PDF certificate of completion with the SCREC provider number, course approval ID, and your license number. Fortune Academy also reports your CE completion directly to SCREC's online system, so your hours appear in your SCREC record automatically.
Can I take more than 10 CE hours if I want to?
Yes, you can take additional CE hours beyond the 10-hour minimum if you want extra training or want to stay ahead on future cycles. However, excess hours do NOT carry over to the next biennial renewal period — SCREC requires 10 hours completed within each specific 2-year window. Think of CE as ongoing professional development, not a bank account.
