Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our appraisal courses

How many hours of education do I need to become a Trainee Appraiser?

The Appraiser Qualifications Board (AQB) requires 75 hours of qualifying education — including the 15-Hour National USPAP Course — to qualify as a Trainee (Apprentice) Appraiser. Confirm any additional requirements with your state appraiser board.

No. The Trainee Appraiser credential does not require a college degree. A degree (or qualifying alternative) becomes a factor as you advance to the Licensed or Certified levels.

With our self-paced online format, most students complete the 75-hour requirement in a few weeks. You can move faster or slower to fit your schedule.

Our appraiser qualifying education follows the AQB Real Property Appraiser Qualification Criteria. We recommend confirming state-specific approval with your local appraiser board.

After completing your education you register as a Trainee Appraiser and begin gaining experience under a certified supervisory appraiser before advancing to a Licensed or Certified credential.
