Successfully complete an approved 90 clock hour Pre-Licensing course, with 3 parts at 30 hours each. You may take the licensing exam (step 3) after completing Course I. Course II and III must be completed before applying for a license (step 5)

After you complete all the course materials, meet the minimum time requirement, and pass the practice exam, there is a course final exam. The minimum passing score is 75%. This final must be taken in the presence of a proctor, and you'll need to schedule an appointment with a proctor in advance.

Pearson VUE administers the Minnesota salesperson real estate licensing exam. This 130 question test is comprised of two portions, covering both general and state requirements. You will have 4 hours to take the exam, 2.5 hours for the general portion and 1.5 hours to complete the state portion. You will then mail your application to the PSI office to get pre-approved to take the licensing exam. The National portion of this exam consists of 80 questions and a 90-minute time allowance. The State portion consists of 30 questions and a 30-minute time allowance.

To be licensed, you must first be associated with a current and active Minnesota sponsoring broker. It's important to find the right broker to work with since this person will serve as your mentor as you start your new career in real estate. Here are some questions to consider during your search: What is their reputation, both locally and nationally? What kind of real estate agents are they looking for? Are they technologically advanced and up-to-date with the latest systems? How do they support their agents with education and training? What kind of commission structure do they offer? Do they offer benefits? Do they provide their agents with leads and marketing material? Is there room to grow with the brokerage?
