What Our Students Have to Say About Us

Frequently Asked Question

Have questions regarding the VT real estate Salesperson course? We got you covered.

Yes, one needs to be 18-year-old or above as per the requirements of the SCREC

Ten (10) hours biennially if a VT resident licensee. 4 hours must be the core mandatory course and 6 hours must be electives. Brokers in Charge will have to take a mandatory BIC Responsibility 4-hour course in addition to the core course, and will only have to take 2 hours of electives. If you are a non-resident and licensed in your resident jurisdiction, you have to meet the CE requirements of your resident state. If you have 25 years of active licensed experience you may submit a request for Partial Continuing Education Exemption. If you meet the experience requirements based upon licensure in another jurisdiction, we will need you to obtain and submit certifications of licensure history. If you are active-duty military, you are exempt from CE while on active service

Our current courses are 100% self-paced and online. All course content is presented in a series of online screens with quizzes to determine mastery before moving to the next series.

If you are considering taking the state licensing exam, you can apply online by going to the PSI website and following the online prompts after registering for an account. Once your eligibility has been forwarded to PSI, you have received approval to schedule the state exam.

The Vermont Real Estate Commission has contracted with PSI. PSI will provide examinations for real estate licensure through a network of computer exam centers. Registering online is recommended for the fastest and convenient exam-scheduling process. If you have any difficulties scheduling your exam, call the PSI help line at 855-340-3701.

A high school diploma (or certificate of equivalency) is necessary as per the requirements of the SCREC

SCREC recognizes the qualifications of non-resident licensees of other jurisdiction, however one must still must apply for and take the VT portion of the real estate examination (and if applying to become a broker, meet the 3 years actively licensed sales experience requirements). With your examination application, you will need to submit certification(s) of licensure from any jurisdiction(s) in which you have held licensure in the last 5 years. You must also have been licensed within 6 months prior to VT Application. Resident applicants with licenses in other jurisdictions who have been residents for more than 6 months cannot qualify to take the VT. examination with just a certification of licensure from another jurisdiction. The resident applicant will also need to take the following pre-licensing education:
For a Salesperson exam applicant
A SC resident (for more than 6 months) with a license in another jurisdiction who will have to take Unit II: Advanced Real Estate Principles class (30 hours)
For a Broker exam applicant
a SC resident (for more than 6 months) with a broker license in another jurisdiction will have to take Broker Unit IIIA and Broker Unit IIIB classes (60 hours) PDF Exam Application Link: https://llr.sc.gov/re/recpdf/doc231.pdf Online Applications Link: https://llr.sc.gov/re/Instructions.aspx

Complete the Vermont Real Estate Salesperson Application

img Step 1

Complete 40 Hours of Approved Vermont Pre-Licensing Education

To start, you must successfully complete 40 hours of Pre-Licensing real estate education.

img Step 2

Pass The Fortune Academy Course Final Exam

After you complete all the course materials, meet the minimum time requirement, and pass the practice exam, there is a course final exam. The minimum passing score is 75%.

img Step 3

Pass The Vermont Real Estate Exam Online

PSI administers the national portion of the Vermont real estate licensing exam. There are 100 questions on the national portion and 2.5 hours are allowed for the exam. The Vermont state licensing exam is administered by the Vermont Office of Professional Regulation (OPR). Initial online applications include the Vermont State Examination and it will be completed during the application process. The state portion is an untimed, open book, paper-based exam with 50 questions.

img Step 4

Find a Sponsoring Broker

To be licensed, you must first be associated with a current and active Vermont real estate Broker. Your sponsoring Broker also needs to complete this form. It's important to find the right Broker to work with since this person will serve as your mentor as you start your new career in real estate. What is their reputation, both locally and nationally? What kind of real estate agents are they looking for? Are they technologically advanced and up-to-date with the latest systems? How do they support their agents with education and training? What kind of commission structure do they offer? Do they offer benefits? Do they provide their agents with leads and marketing material? Is there room to grow with the brokerage?

img Step 5

Complete the Vermont Real Estate Salesperson Application

Once you’ve completed all of the previous steps, you will be ready to complete the application process on the Vermont Office of Profession Regulation (OPR) website. The application process may be started at any time (even before steps 1-4 below), but only after completing all of the previous steps can you successfully complete the application paperwork. Upon submitting the application and providing payment, the OPR will run its final review before approving your licensure. If you have any questions, you can outreach the Vermont real estate office at 802.828.1505.
