The first steps to getting a Florida real estate license include completing the 63-hour FL Real Estate Sales Associate Licensing course, passing the course’s final exam, and finding a broker to sponsor you through the process. Next is to file an application (which includes fingerprinting) for a sales associate license with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). After the FL DBPR approves your application, you are eligible to sit for the Sales Associate exam administered by Pearson Vue.
The time it takes to get a Florida Real Estate Sales Associate license can vary. It may take up to a few months to complete the required 63-hour Pre-Licensing coursework, find a sponsoring broker, go through the application process, and take the licensing examination.

You must successfully complete an approved 63 clock-hour Pre-Licensing course. The Fortune Academy offers this mandatory course through its advanced web-based platform, where the best of the classroom is combined with the flexibility and convenience of online learning. We prepare you for your licensing exam while providing you with the knowledge you need to begin a promising career in real estate.
After you complete all the course materials, meet the minimum time requirement, and pass the practice exam, there is a course final exam. The minimum passing score is 70%. Within one year of the original examination, you may retest once. Beyond that, if you fail the final exam, you must repeat the course prior to being eligible to take the test again.
After you pass your exam, you’ll need to submit your fingerprints to the DBPR at least five days before submitting your application to the state.
You will receive notice from the DBPR when your application is approved. Attached in that notice is a RE Application ID number.
Next you must take and pass the Florida licensing exam, which is administered by Pearson VUE. This test has two sections, covering both state and national requirements. For more information, see the Pearson VUE Candidate Exam Information. Florida allows the licensing exam to be proctored online.
